Vegetable Garden Coaching, And Raised Bed Installations For The Greater Reading, PA Area

If you’re a health conscious beginner gardener interested in growing your own organic vegetables, we can help! We specialize in solutions for small suburban yards, developing easy-to-maintain gardens, and maximizing small spaces.

Starting a garden can be a bit overwhelming at first. What plants grow best around here?  What time of year do I plant tomatoes?  Do I plant seeds or small starter seedlings?  When and how much should I water?  Can I just plant right into my lawn?

Relax.  We can help and answer all of your questions and save you time trying to find out all of the answers yourself.

We can determine the best possible location for your garden bed with the following considerations: sunlight, access to water, ease of access, amount of time you have to devote to the garden.

We know that the key component to a healthy and high-yielding garden is the soil and we have a great source for local compost to start your garden growing.  Plus we have some tips on maintaining soil fertility for years to come.

We have been planting veggies and herbs for years so we know what works well in small spaces, what is most beneficial for home gardeners, how to space plants properly and how to layout the planting in order to maximize the harvest.

Plus, we can build your raised garden bed, fill it with high quality compost, plant your start seedlings, line the soil surface with a soaker hose, mulch the bed and have it ready to go by the time you come home from work!  How nice is that!?!

Raised Garden Bed Installations

We will install your raised garden bed and provide additional help and maintenance throughout the season. You choose what you would like to grow, we do the hard part, and you get to harvest and enjoy the bounty. Simple as that!

Why Raised Beds?

Raised beds allow you to garden anywhere. They are an attractive addition to your landscape, and are a solution to suburban fill and the heavy clay Berks County soil.

Raised beds allow you to grow far more food in less space. They are designed in a way so that you can reach all of the plants from outside of the bed, which allows the plants to be closer together.

Raised beds really do help minimize weeds. There are several factors at play here including the ability to start with a good weed-free soil blend, and the dense plantings shade the soil inhibiting the germination of many of the weed seeds that will eventually naturally blow in to the bed.

Raised beds help define the garden area and focus your efforts on a smaller space.

Ready to get started?

Whether you are a brand new gardener or are an existing gardener we recommend starting with two 4’x8′ size beds. Over the past few years we have found it best to grow quick growing greens and root vegetables in one bed (which can then easily be replanted often) and to keep longer maturing crops like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and herbs in the second bed.

Start with a Consultation

Our initial consultation fee is $50 during which we determine the best location for the garden as well as discuss appropriate plantings. This fee is then credited towards your garden project. There will be an additional charge for gardens installed beyond a 30 minute commute from Wyomissing, PA.
